Imola: Between Challenges and Thrills for Ianniello-Viglietti

The third round of the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint GT Cup Championship concluded with mixed feelings for Riccardo Ianniello and Vittorio Viglietti. At the legendary Enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodrome, the DL Racing crew demonstrated their full potential on track, coming close to a well-deserved podium before a technical problem in the final phase of Race 2 nullified an excellent performance.

The weekend began with qualifying sessions characterized by numerous red flags that limited the available laps. Despite the interruptions, the crew performed well: Viglietti secured P7, while Ianniello achieved an excellent P6 that guaranteed him a strategic starting position for Race 1.

The first race delivered strong emotions. Viglietti opened proceedings at the wheel of the Lamborghini, managing his stint with intelligence and determination before handing over to Ianniello. The Roman driver then put on a show in the final 3 minutes with a series of breathtaking overtakes that ignited the enthusiasm of the crowd at Imola.

Despite the numerous Safety Cars that affected the race rhythm, Ianniello managed to express his full talent, delivering bold and precise maneuvers. Unfortunately missing out on the third step of the podium on the last lap due to a technical problem, forcing the crew to finish in P5.

"It was a really fun race," commented Ianniello. "We really enjoyed the battle on track."

The second race seemed destined to deliver even greater satisfaction. Starting from P6, Ianniello immediately demonstrated an exceptional start, gaining positions with authority until he moved right behind the leader. Throughout his stint, the pace was competitive and consistent, allowing the crew to firmly hold P2.

The driver change took place with the Lamborghini in full fight for the podium, with Viglietti ready to manage the final phase of the race. Unfortunately, when the finish line seemed close and the points for a valuable move to championship leadership were within reach, a technical problem forced a pit stop, denying the deserved result.

Despite the bitter taste of the missed podiums, the Imola weekend confirmed the competitiveness and speed of the drivers. The on-track performances, especially in terms of race pace and overtaking ability, bode well for the next and final round of the championship.

"We've shown we can fight for the top positions," concludes Riccardo. "The potential is there, the speed is there, now we just need to bring home what we deserve. We look forward with confidence."

The Italian Gran Turismo Sprint GT Cup Championship will conclude at Monza for the final round of the season, with Ianniello-Viglietti ready to transform Imola's misfortune into motivation to finish in style at the Temple of Speed.
